Nothing But Nets at All Star
Last week in Las Vegas, Bishops and Basketball players were supporting Nothing But Nets. During 2007 All Star Week, the NBA highlighted the campaign to prevent one of the largest killers of children in Africa, malaria. I can best describe this week with one moment at the NBA Jam Session, standing between United Methodist Volunteer Phyllis Murray and All Star 3-Point Shoot Out Champ Jason Kapono raising money at the Nothing But Nets Booth.
Jason Kapono donated $1,000 dollars a shot during All Star – along side his fellow players who also contributed – Joe Johnson, Mike Miller, Jordan Farmar, and Brandon Roy. Guess who else hung out with the Nothing But Nets crew, Sela Ward and Chris Tucker! Our newest partner, VIBE Magazine covered the whole event and will feature Nothing But Nets in their next issue.
Talk about a money ball – between our volunteers, players, agents and fans Nothing But Nets raised $140,000 – that is over 14,000 lives saved by you during NBA All Star.
