Supporting communities on the frontlines this World Malaria Day

April 21, 2021

Every year on April 25, the global health community comes together to acknowledge an important day: World Malaria Day.

This year, Nothing But Nets is focusing our attention to communities on the frontlines of the fight against malaria in Borno State, Nigeria.

Home to nearly 1 in 4 global malaria cases, Nigeria carries the highest share of malaria cases and deaths in the world.

Partners on the ground are stepping up to protect communities at risk and support those working tirelessly towards a brighter future for all Nigerians. Here’s how you can join them this #WorldMalariaDay:

  1. Visit our StoryMap: To learn more about how communities on the ground are fighting to #EndMalaria for good, visit our new ArcGIS StoryMap. This immersive and interactive platform tells the story of the global fight against malaria like never before.
  2. Spread the word: Everyone has a role to play in the fight against malaria. Tell your family, friends, and coworkers about World Malaria Day and why you’re passionate about this cause. The more people who join the fight, the faster we can #EndMalaria for good! Check out this toolkit for ideas and inspiration.
  3. Send a thank you note to our corporate partners: Our corporate partners are stepping up the fight against malaria. This World Malaria Day we want to give a special shoutout to Envu, SC Johnson, and Vestergaard for supporting us at our #NBN21 Leadership Summit. Give them a follow on your preferred social media platform and send them a note to show your thanks!
  4. Contact your Members of Congress: Contacting your Members of Congress and advocating for increased funding for programs like the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (Global Fund) is a quick and easy way to make your voice heard.
  5. Donate: This World Malaria Day, your gift will help expand essential, lifesaving malaria prevention interventions for the most vulnerable displaced and conflict affected people in Borno State, Nigeria. From now until May 1, your donation will be doubled!

There is no time to wait — we hope to see YOU #OntheFrontlines with us to protect communities at risk this World Malaria Day.
